Build

Mobile apps, custom software and integrations

When off-the-shelf software does not quite fit, we build the missing piece: a mobile app for your customers, a custom panel for your team and integrations that keep your systems in step.

What would you like to do? Pick as many as you like.

Custom software

A panel for your team, an app for your customers

We bring work scattered across spreadsheets and messages into one panel. A mobile app on the same data lets your customers order, book or check their account.

  • CRM, bookings and dealer portals
  • One codebase for iOS and Android
  • Code and accounts in your name

Integrations

Stock, orders and accounts update together

Your site, store, warehouse, marketplaces and accounting software are connected. When something sells, stock, invoice and shipping records update on their own, and nobody copies spreadsheets by hand.

  • ERP, warehouse and marketplace connections
  • Error logs and instant alerts
  • A maintenance plan for API changes

Shopify Partners

On Shopify, from store to app

Workly Up is a Shopify Partner. From store builds to Shopify Plus moves and custom apps embedded in the admin, we work to Shopify’s rules and good practice.

Platforms and partnerships
  • Custom Shopify apps

Embedded in the admin, built on the API and webhooks.

  • App Store submission

The submission pack and review, where needed.

  • Shopify stores and themes

A bespoke theme or a headless storefront.

  • Shopify Plus and Markets

    Many markets, languages and currencies.

In practice

What the work looks like

The screens this service delivers, shown on a fictional brand.

The result

What changes when it is done properly

Less manual work

Repeated steps such as orders, quotes, bookings and stock updates run on their own, so your team spends its time on customers.

Customers and orders on one screen

Customer history, orders and requests sit in one panel, and each person sees what their role needs.

Code you own and can hand on

Documented code in your repository and accounts in your name, so another team could take it over with ease.

Process

How the work runs

  1. Step 1

    Discovery and specification

We map the job, the data, the users and the exceptions, then write a specification you can review line by line.

  2. Step 2

    Prototype and technical plan

Key screens become a clickable prototype, and we agree a technical plan covering data, hosting and support.

  3. Step 3

    Build in short cycles

We work in two- to three-week cycles and show working software in a test environment at the end of each.

  4. Step 4

    Test and review

Critical steps are tested automatically and by hand, and mobile apps are prepared for App Store and Google Play review.

  5. Step 5

    Launch and support

We release, monitor errors and keep the software current with iOS, Android, browser and connected-service updates.

Do we need custom software, or will an existing tool do?

Often an existing tool will do, and we will tell you so. Custom software makes sense when your way of working is specific to your business, when several tools are stitched together for one job, or when licence fees outweigh the cost of owning your own. We look at the process first and recommend the simplest option, in writing.

Should we build a mobile app or improve our mobile site?

For most brands the mobile site comes first, because that is where new customers arrive from search and social. An app earns its place when customers return often: membership, loyalty, repeat orders, bookings or early access. We start every mobile project with that question.

Can you connect our existing systems?

Yes, where the other system offers an API or a reliable data exchange. We agree which system holds the master copy of each piece of data, how often it syncs and what happens when something fails, then build and monitor the integration. Where a reliable connector already exists, we recommend it rather than build a new one.

Who owns the code and the data?

You do. Code lives in your repository, hosting and app store accounts are opened in your name, and documentation and access are handed over at launch.

Do you support the software after launch?

Yes. We monitor errors, apply security updates and keep the software current with iOS, Android and connected-service updates; new features can be built within a monthly plan.
